There isn't one fuse that could take all that lot out. It's difficult to get the cowling off without taking the steering wheel off as well, but if you've got an XZN M12 bit then it will save you quite a bit of time. These ignition switches were inherited from the later mk.3 Golfs and weren't all the reliable all those years ago,add another 10 years or so onto that and it's a recipe for disaster.
Just wanted to say thank you to everyone. Just gotten an old Mk4 Golf off a neighbour and after checking out/sorting a failed brake light the central locking remote didn't work. I did the obvious - changed the battery in the remote - but as you can prob guess that didn't work. An internet search brought this up and hey presto! Front Indicators Not Working. This week my front indicators stopped working, on both sides. Rear ones work fine and so do the mirror indicators. This is either when I use the indicator stick or hazard lights. The indicator lights and sound on the dash flash twice as fast. Just to give some context, I was at the scene of an accident and I left One may say, that well adjusted resistor will do, it may with H7 replacements, where a bulb itself consumes 20W. With indicators, stops etc. LEDs bring just 2-3W and taking to account that the voltage changes from 12.5V up to 15.2V adjusting such resistor is absolutely impossible. Quote. Posted.

4 posts · Joined 2012. #1 · Jun 2, 2012. I have a VW Polo 2003 and the battery died on my remote key fob. It was working fine before, then all of a sudden I couldn't lock the car and the little red light on the fob wasn't working. I replaced the battery in the remote and now the indicator light works on the fob but I can't unlock/lock the car
Parts of the Mk4 Golf Light Switch Wiring Diagram. The Mk4 Golf light switch wiring diagram includes the following parts: the LED indicators, the toggle switch, the lamp socket, and the ground wire. The LED indicators indicate when power is flowing through the switch, while the toggle switch has a three-way circuit that provides direct current
Its just confusing that the dash is COMPLETELY dead - no warning lights, illumination, mileometer etc are all off, yet other systems like the indicators etc work. Chris. Fuse on top of the battery, one of them cables, red one, will activate the immobiliser and fuel pump. Check the fuses there.
SOURCE: Golf MK4 Handbrake blocking. Seems like your rear brakes are staying stuck in locked position when you release the E-brake. Try to adjust the e-brake from under the car first. If that does not work then remove the rear drum, and there is a adjustment bolts. Turn it a few turns put back on the drum and try again.
